| Among the various shady characters of Manhattan's underworld, a young Salvation Army girl, Sister Sarah, tries vainly to bring a message of hope, but she makes little impression on the likes of Nathan Detroit and his gambling colleagues. He is busy trying to organise a big floating crap game with handsome young Sky Masterson, the highest player of them all. Nathan bets Sky that he cannot take the innocent Sister Sarah on a date, a challenge he cannot resist. He dupes her into thinking that he can offer her a dozen genuine sinners if she will go on a date with him. Little does she realise that the 'sinners' are all gamblers looking for somewhere to hold an illegal game. But Sister Sarah is more astute than they think and eventually convinces them to reform, gets Sky to join the Sally Army and Nathan weds his long suffering fiancee, Adelaide, to bring a happy conclusion to a show that includes such hit songs as 'Bushel and a Peck', 'Luck be a Lady Tonight' and 'Sit Down, You're Rocking the Boat'. |
