The Winslow Boy

14 year old Ronnie Winslow is expelled from Osborne Naval College accused of stealing a postal order. He swears he did not do it and so his father, Arthur, begins a fight to prove his son's innocence. However, a further Admiralty inquiry only confirms the guilty verdict, but official high-handedness in the case arouses nation-wide controversy. When Arthur decides to employ top barrister Sir Robert Morton, the family is split, high legal fees prevent eldest son Dickie from continuing at Oxford, and only daughter Catherine (Kate Winslow) supports her father. Kate's support costs her dearly - her fiance's father threatens to withdraw his son's allowance essential for their marriage. After much turmoil and heart-searching, Morton wins the case and Ronnie's name is cleared, but loyalties have been tested and lives have been changed. This famous, now classic play from Terence Rattigan, emphasises the strength of family and loyalty.
