Polar BearsJun 15 2022 - Jun 18 2022

A RAODS Green Room Production

Polar Bears is a captivating play exploring non-linear structures, philosophy and love. It follows the relationship between Kay – who has bipolar disorder – her family and her philosopher husband John.

Through a discontinuous series of scenes, we see the relationship between Kay and John develop and founder; she becomes lost to another world, a world in which John does not belong. Balancing humour with extraordinary pathos, this is a story of Nietzsche, Jesus, children’s books about monsters, and the pain of loving someone you can never really know.

Polar Bears is thought-provoking and intelligent, and refuses to offer any easy answers about those involved in mental instability. The play was first performed in 2010 at the Donmar Warehouse, London.

Made In Tennessee - The Soundtrack of American CountryJun 24 2022

Come on down to The Grand Ole Opry in Tennessee for a taste of Nashville and the soundtrack of American country music.

Cajun, creole, blue grass, cowboy western music styles encompass a huge range of genres but at the heart of every great Country song is a heavily accented vocal describing life’s ups and downs.

In the words of the great Conway Twitty: “Only in country music can you compare an old pick -up truck and an old guitar to your wife and turn it into a love song! Thank God for country music.”

The Made in Tennessee musicians introduce first class harmonies arranged with stringed instruments, guitar, fiddle, banjo, harmonica and pedal steel and will take you back through the decades of the nation’s fastest growing music genre from its origins in the Southern states of America.

Featuring classic songs we know and love from legends like Johnny, June, Dolly and Hank to Garth Brooks and Carrie Underwood as well as modern country super stars such as Kacey Musgraves and Chris Stapleton. Ben Elton's hilarious, filthy comedy!

Silly Cow is a slick, razor-tongued modern satire on the viciousness of tabloid journalism with an ingeniously dramatic dénouement. Doris is a newspaper columnist and reviewer with a talent for caustic insults and career assassination. She is being sued by the actress Trudi Hobson, after writing an article which savaged the respected thespian with accusations of small talent and large thighs. The queen of spleen isn’t worried: she’s got a job offer, a plan for a television show, and the cleavage to help the judge see things her way.

But she’s about to discover that even journalists can’t escape reaping what they have sown, and that there’s nothing quite as dramatic as an actress’s revenge.

A Tribute to Simon and GarfunkelNov 26 2022

As seen on BBC's The One Show, The Sounds of Simon is a tribute to the wonderful music of Simon and Garfunkel.

From Hey Schoolgirl, released in 1957 when they were known as Tom & Jerry, all the way through to the hits from the Gracelands album, they are all here: The Sounds of Silence, Homeward Bound, Scarborough Fair, and into Paul Simon's amazing solo career with songs like Late in the Evening and Fifty Ways to Leave your Lover.

Paul and Art are played to perfection, bringing in elements of their famously fractious relationship, as well as replicating the beautiful harmonies flawlessly. With video clips, stories, and memories from the last 50+ years, this is a wonderful show filled with excellent music, nostalgia, and a genuine love for some great musicians.

Rules for LivingDec 6 2022 - Dec 10 2022

A RAODS Production

A dark comedy about family dysfunction and societal norms by Sam Holcroft.

Everyone creates their own coping strategies or rules for living. But what happens when an extended family gathers in the kitchen for a traditional Christmas and they each follow those rules, rigidly?

As long-held mechanisms for survival are laid bare, even Mum, who's been preparing this lunch since last January, becomes embroiled. Time-honoured rivalries and resentments will out. Accusations fly, relationships deconstruct, the rules take over.

In Sam Holcroft's theatrically playful, dark comedy the instructions are there for all to see, audience included - so there's really no place to hide.
