The Last Five Years is a musical written by Jason Robert Brown that premiered in Chicago in 2001 and has recently been released as film, starring Anna Kendrick and Jeremy Jordan.

The story explores a five-year relationship between Jamie Wellerstein, a rising novelist, and Cathy Hiatt, a struggling actress. Cathy's version of their love story is told in reverse chronological order (beginning the show at the end of their marriage), and Jamie's is told in chronological order (starting just after the couple have first met). So the pair only interact during their wedding song, right in the middle of the show.

Filled with some truly great songs, this is an intimate and passionate 90 minute exploration of the build up – and break up – of a romance.
