Love, sex, birth, death and salsa classes...
Little Gem has caused quite a stir since it premiered at the Dublin Fringe in 2008. Party girl Amber has bad indigestion and the Sambucas aren’t getting rid of it. Her compulsive mother Lorraine attacks a customer at work and her boss wants her to see a psychiatrist. And her grandmother Kay “toys” with the meaning of pleasure as she looks after her ill husband. In this hilarious and heart-warming play, three generations of women in an Irish family tell the story of one extraordinary year. Their entwined monologues josh us along with warm, wry self-deprecation and lovingly snide asides as these three women greet life’s travails with strength, humour and the occasional vodka and Diet Coke.
