Simmering passion and concealed desires in a Bournemouth hotel

Separate Tables combines humour and drama through two linked stories that both take place in the Beauregard Private Hotel, Bournemouth. The first story focuses on the passionate but troubled relationship between a disgraced Labour politician and his glamourous ex-wife. The second deals with the touching friendship between a repressed spinster and a kindly upper-class retired army officer with a mysterious past.  This stylish production combines 1950s film noir with genteel British middle-class sensibilities, and challenges many of the social attitudes towards lifestyles and behaviour deemed morally reprehensible in 1950s Britain.
